About Sahakreas CEDAC
Sahakreas CEDAC was established in July 2009 by CEDAC, a Cambodian local NGO established in 1997. CEDAC has been realizing socially innovative approach and has reached 90,000 small-scale farmers through ecological agro-technology, called System of Rice Intensification(SRI). CEDAC also supports farmers to organize associations and train young business leaders. Sahakreas CEDAC was established as a business wing of CEDAC which focuses on developing distribution channel of CEDAC's Natural Agricultural Products.
Sahakreas CEDAC's project ARUN invests in
ARUN invests in Sahakreas CEDAC's natural rice distribution project. Sahakreas CEDAC purchases natural rice at appropriate price from 900 associations of small farmers. Sahakreas CEDAC distributes the rice to CEDAC's own Natural Agriculutural Products Shops and also exports to overseas natural food shops. A part of the profit from sales is redistributed to the farmers' associations for voluntary rural development activities to contribute to income generation of small farmers, ecological conservation and community development.
Also since Summer 2010, ARUN started to invest in Sahakreas CEDAC's wild honey distribution project, which they operate in partnership with the local NGO: Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NFTP-EP).
